Prince William could be set to take on another important role in his life after his close friend announced he is expecting a child with his wife. The Prince of Wales, 42, could become godfather to his close friend the Duke of Westminster’s first child, which is due this summer.
This comes after William’s friend Hugh Grosvenor and his wife Olivia Henson announced they are expecting a baby. This is likely to have been met with much delight by William, who has shared a long and happy friendship with Hugh. This was shown last year when the future King took on the role of usher at Hugh’s wedding in Cheshire.

The strength of their friendship is also shown by the fact Hugh is godfather to William’s oldest son, Prince George, 11.
Prince William’s father King Charles is also Hugh’s godfather, with the family having shared close bonds for a number of years.
Neither Prince William nor the Duke of Westminster have publicly mentioned the possibility of the Prince of Wales becoming a godfather over the next year.
While William is likely to be in the running as godfather, his estranged brother Prince Harry, 40, could also be a potential choice for the Westminsters.
This is because Harry is also close friends with Hugh, who is godfather to Harry’s son Prince Archie, now five.

The speculation over who could take on this role comes after The Duke and Duchess of Westminster announced their pregnancy news in an official statement on Wednesday.
It read: “The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are very pleased to share that the Duchess is expecting a baby in the summer.
“The couple are delighted with the news and are very much looking forward to starting a family together.”
