When it comes to the rules of parenting, there are countless ‘experts’ out there, all with their own theories on the ‘correct’ ways to raise your children.
Over the years, we’ve seen corporal punishment predominantly (and thankfully) eradicated in schools, witnessed the rise of fall of the ‘naughty step’ (thank for that one, Supernanny), and ‘no dinner’ punishments have seemingly been thrown out the window.
Despite many of the ‘old school’ ways of parenting seemingly going extinct, many mums and dads—including the Royal Family — are trying various methods to maintain a tight ship at home.

The Waleses, in contrast to the royal dynasties that came before them, frequently offer charming peeks into what makes their life as a family of five so unique.
William was spotted dancing to “Shake It Off” at a Taylor Swift performance with his two oldest children just a week ago. In the past month alone, Kate’s endearing moniker for her mischievous youngest, Louis, has come to light.
Although Kate always seems cool under pressure when she goes on royal outings with her children, there are rumors that she has an unexpectedly severe parenting style behind the scenes.

Screaming is totally “off limits” for the three children, according to The Sun in 2020. Any hint that a tantrum might get out of control is met with a “removal.”
There is a “chat sofa,” but no “naughty step,” a source told the publication.
“Either Kate or William gently speak to the misbehaving youngster after removing them from the scene of the altercation or disturbance.
“They never yell at them; instead, things are explained and the consequences are laid out.”

Beyond only her own family, Kate places a high priority on parenting. She has spearheaded various efforts in the past few years to highlight the value of early childhood development, such as “Shaping Us” with the Center for Early Childhood.

“This isn’t just about raising kids. It’s about shaping our futures, shaping our society, creating a happier, healthier, more nurturing world for us all to live in,” she told Capital Breakfast’s Roman Kemp back in 2023.
“The pressures that we all face are different. Whilst raising the importance of early childhood, this isn’t about putting extra pressure on families.
“It’s actually saying they need the support and help reprioritising family life, home life and all that it takes really in raising children today – because it is tough.”
